Recently I came across an excellent article and training manual about kettlebell. Something I have seen before but never had a chance to try out, so is it just a Soviet Union myth or is it really the magic ball of fitness?Kettlebell is a very simple train

About Road Cycling Print

Riding a bicycle is a great way to explore a place. It enables us to cover greater distances than walking, and a fantastic work out as a sport.

This invention from the 19th century is still going from strength to strength, over the years many styles and innovations of bicycle technologies have been developed and forgotten. In this section we look at 4 types of road bicycles commonly found today and information that is useful to know.

Hybrid Bikes Print

As the name suggested, this is a cross between few types of bikes which are road, touring and mountain bikes. Hybrid bikes are designed to suit all leisure riders and commuters, an ideal “goes anywhere” option built for comfort over long distance that performance doesn’t really matter.

Aka “tourers”, are bikes built for serious long riding where carrying capacities and comforts are paramount. It can also be used for commuting in urban environments and on uneven surfaces, but unsuitable for off-roads.

Road Bikes Print

Sometimes referred to as “racers”, are bikes that are built for speed over a long period. They are characterised with lower than normal riding position, drop handlebar, slim (20-25mm) slick tyres and (unlike most bikes) with two chainrings in high ratio. Due to the tyres, wheels width and bike frame design, they are suitable to use safely on paved roads only.

Triathlon/Time Trial Bikes Print

They are designed and built for one purpose – speed. Its riding position is even lower than road bikes and the rider is required to bend down on the bike when pedalling to minimise air resistance and create maximum aerodynamic. Since riding position is not comfortable, TT bikes are generally being used for shorter distance rides and races (10 – 40km).
