Skiing
Measure of Levels Print

Gauging someone's level is extremely difficult, due to differences in standards and opinions. Although we disagree in “labelling” someone, to enjoy skiing it is necessary to find out what you can do safely.

Here we cover most the recognisable characteristics for each level.

Beginner

From never having skiied before to someone can begin to link turns with their skis parallel, their skis sometime going back to snowplow on steeper terrain like green runs. Have difficulty stopping and speed control.

Intermediate

Ski parallel confidently on green runs and most of the time on blues and some easy black runs. Have difficulty stopping and good speed control on black and challenging blue runs. Begin to experiment on moguls (bumps), off-piste and carving turns.

Advanced

Ski parallel at all time on any terrain with excellent speed control and performance carving turns. Can’t perform the same standard when off-piste or on moguls.

Expert

Consistent with performance on every terrains mentioned above.
